How to Vote in the USA from Costa Rica

Election Season Stinks but You MUST Vote Anyway

Ladies, our great grandmothers fought like hellcats to legalize our right to vote.

They organized from kitchen tables while running the house and raising the kids without the benefit of electricity or telephones, much less Facebook and Twitter.  They dealt with dirtbags who set women against African Americans.  They faced resistance from husbands, churches, and the government itself.

So what have you done today?

I confess, all I've worked on so far today is my tan, but I'll be damned if I pass up on 1) my vote or 2) an opportunity to share this Public Servic Announcement, courtesy of my 109-year-old Grandmother.

The 19th Amendment, which secures our (women's) right to vote was not even ratified until 1920.

THAT'S LESS THAN 100 YEARS AGO.  MY OWN GRANDMOTHER REMEMBERS THIS.

I don't need to tell you what's at stake in this election.  You know damn well what's going to happen if the Orange Menace takes the White House.

So don't blow off voting just because you're chilling in beautiful Costa Rica.

Here's how you get your ballot:

Don't waste it.  She fought so we wouldn't have to.

Study the Verbs

Buenos Dias, Familia de Blog.

Lately, I haven't been writing due to a combination of circumstances that would be very boring to list, so instead, let us contemplate the beauty of the Blue Morpho.

Let us review our Spanish conjugations, and be at peace with all 18 of them.

Let us contemplate the ineffable, and see if we might eff it after all.   (Hat Tip to Douglas Adams)

Above all, let us listen, groove, shake, bounce, and strut to the mighty sounds of South Aftica's Laura Mvula.

Although she is not Costa Rican and has no Costa Rican ties to my knowledge, I ran across the video while relaxing in San Jose, CR, so there you go.  Beautiful things can happen when you're tranquilo.  (But still, study the verbs.)

Pura Vida!

A New Year's Faux Pas

Happy New Butt Hole!

There is a critical difference in the Spanish words "Ano" and "Año."

All the best to you and yours!
