Election Season Stinks but You MUST Vote Anyway
Ladies, our great grandmothers fought like hellcats to legalize our right to vote.
They organized from kitchen tables while running the house and raising the kids without the benefit of electricity or telephones, much less Facebook and Twitter. They dealt with dirtbags who set women against African Americans. They faced resistance from husbands, churches, and the government itself.
So what have you done today?
I confess, all I've worked on so far today is my tan, but I'll be damned if I pass up on 1) my vote or 2) an opportunity to share this Public Servic Announcement, courtesy of my 109-year-old Grandmother.
The 19th Amendment, which secures our (women's) right to vote was not even ratified until 1920.
THAT'S LESS THAN 100 YEARS AGO. MY OWN GRANDMOTHER REMEMBERS THIS.
I don't need to tell you what's at stake in this election. You know damn well what's going to happen if the Orange Menace takes the White House.
So don't blow off voting just because you're chilling in beautiful Costa Rica.
